Outdoor Family Counseling...

What??? Well, let me explain...
Not far (about 45 min. drive) from my first home, where I grew up... is a quaint little Northern town called Lanesboro. Some may have heard of this blissful village, where the Root River rolls through and tourists can nestle away their vacation in Victorian Era B&Bs. One main attraction there is "The Bike Trail." If you're an outdoorsy sort of person "The Bike Trail" is one of the easiest things you can do. You just park, the attendant will get the bike that fits your height, simply buckle the happy "kids-with-suckers" in the cart, hop on and go... it's just that easy.
Well, until one kid starts screaming that the other is pulling her hair. The boy starts crying "Mommmmmmy!!! No! Enna!!" (why aren't the suckers working??) The Dad starts threatening - "we're done, we're going back right now!" - and you get upset because, "what's the big deal anyway??" (and you're trying to catch all this with your camera so you can remember it FOREVER!)
Thank goodness that God created a settlement called Whalan! It's about 4 1/2 miles on "The Bike Trail" to get to, and while there, you can indulge yourself in homemade pie!! What's better than that??? - Of course, pie with coffee, if you're me.
Anyway, more importantly it is a great spot to hash out the return trip with everyone in the family unit.
On the way back it was like, what happened to the kids? They were quiet, talking about the baby ducks they saw or the birds, I think I even heard a laugh or two. Hubby was calm. Successful pictures were taken - not the greatest pictures, but just enough to capture the moment...
