The swing...

Blog... I am so sorry that I have neglected you. I have fallen weak to one of your counterparts, FACEBOOK! Yes, yes, I know... it is not fair for me to have been so caught up in other people's lives that I have let go of the enjoyment of my own record. So often I find myself contemplating, "I should blog about this, or that..." but nothing has come to fruition. Hmmm... what to do...
O.K. I feel like I'm starting all over. Nothing fun or too interesting, but just plain 'ole life happenings.
You know... a Saturday. You want to sleep in, Forest did! Coffee... warm sunshine with singing birds and annoying squirrels that harrass my dog and eat all my bird seed. Off to the gym... (not so Saturdayish)... then a hot shower while hubby watches race car shows with the kids. But nothing to worry about - it's 20 minutes of solitude and shaving my legs.
Door bell. In-laws.
Grandma!
The day is in full swing...

Ann (Grannie Annie) came with me to Lowe's to get the kids new swings. All we had was that green baby swing with the "Buckle me!" that Forest likes to talk about. I was initially just going to buy the next upgrade of the yellow plastic swing, but had a "light bulb" moment when at the store. That's usually when that happens to me - at my most unprepared moments. But, my very creative M.I.L. was with me so all came together quickly.

I decided I wanted to make my swings.
Rope - each kiddo got to pick their own color.
Hooks.
Clamps.
Wood. (from the shed)
TOO EASY! (thanks to a flexible and hard working hubby who took a break from his project) and my "old soul" was fulfilled...

Here are the boys and their toys...

I am so thankful for today because...
about a month ago I was priviledged with the opportunity to "start the Duster" - I think I blushed when Josh asked me if I wanted to. He and the kids were out back and I trotted to the street with the keys. I gave the gas a good few pumps, turned the key and "whoom!" - nothing. To my luck, and Josh's distress, I managed to unsuccessfully start the car by blowing some fuses and wires. So, his once driveable baby-in-progress quickly turned into a "deadbeat Duster."
So, TODAY, with everyone's schedule in perfect harmony, Josh and his Dad made all things go... VROOM!
(and I can breathe again - whew!)

Oh, my dear, if I had a nickel for everytime a blog was converted to a status update my husband could get out of the army. Darn Facebook!
