Of course, I could've gone to Wal-Mart. Or I could've ordered one on-line. But, what fun and ingenuity is in that? And to make matters even more complicated I had a picture in my mind of how I wanted it to look. So, that makes any of the above almost impossible, leaving Anna with no kitchen until she builds her own home someday.
Luckily, as some may know... my Dad is a carpenter.
In the beginning I was going to have Dad create a sort of "prefab" wooden kitchen that he could box up and Fed-Ex to us, leaving my Hero Husband to re-assemble everything. At least, then Anna could've had her kitchen before she turned 10!
Well, like most Grandparents, Dad needed a bit more quality time out of this project than just shipping it off and hoping for the best. So he came (16 hrs. in his work van) to build Anna's kitchen right here on our front door step. Awwww... I know, sweet!
Anna really had no idea what to make of all this wood piled in front of the door, but she was interested in helping... for a while anyway.

O.K. so this was much more elaborate than my Day Care Mom's play kitchen!
Dad did his part and now it's up to us girls to make it look girl friendly. But so far Anna has had lots of fun playing and re-arranging things.
Hopefully, I can get some warmer weather so I can paint it pink!!!

Wow, that is a really nice kitchen. Where those cabinet doors done by Dave as well, or purchased at Lowes? And you know today's modern kitchen are just so chic. Where is Anna's granite counter top?? HAha! J/k! It looks GREAT! I hope she has a great time cooking the family 5-star meals on it. :)
~ Dad bought the cabinet doors.
Wow, how nice and what wonderful memories of Anna and your Dad. It is bigger than what I thought, where will it go? Pink will be a cool color and maybe Granny Annie can find the time to make Anna a pink apron. So maybe she will need a hook for her apron when you paint it. Beautiful! Way to go Grandpa Dave and Anna!
Love ya Granny Annie
