"Mo-om! I made a smiley face, come see!"
As with most busy mom's, our first response in the middle of making supper is usually "wait."
Which I said at first (I will not lie, I'm horrible at it) but then I knocked some sense into my head and said... "Oh my goodness! I've gotta see this! I'm so excited for you!"
After I jogged through the living room Anna held out her hands, palms up, and exclaimed, "Here, look!" ... and there it was... Anna's first smiley face...
***I wish I could hang it on the fridge.***
Amidst all of this enjoyment I hear in the background little Forest. He's running here and there, throwing the chalk that Anna was becoming an artist with, and scolding Buster for the messes he made... "you have a stinky, stinky, butt Busher! YUCK!" All at the top of his lungs. I'm sure the neighbors eating their supper enjoyed hearing all that. Sorry.
Girls will be girls and boys will be boys. I guess that's how the saying goes right? It's times like this that make me love every minute of it. Regardless of the baulking fits, the messes, the endless laundry, the spills, cries, mistakes, and "no! stop that!" ... I LOVE BEING A MOM!
FYI we recently cut off our cable. Gasp! Sad, but true. And I recommend every family that has small kids to do the same immediately. No, I'm not the TV Nazi here, let me explain. We cut it off because we moved and instead of transferring it, we simply decided that we didn't like wasting money (literally) on what, maybe two programs that we actually liked, with the rest being GARBAGE!! So off with the cable. You'd be surprised to see how much TV kids actually end up watching, even if you were like me, and would only allow maybe ONE show a day. Anyway... the point here is this... We had a full day. Not all fun necessarily, but full. I really liked taking note of that. Also, since the TV has been off (for over a month now) Anna has shown way more interest in wanting to read and both kids can make the sounds of pretty much every letter in the alphabet. Cool huh? **And Anna made a really awesome smiley face!!**
Here's a great article on Kids and TV. If you're interested.

We also recently decided to cut out cable in our lives and it's been great. Now, we only use Netflix for movies that we really want to see and it works out well.
