hot glue gun...

It's true... You can do just about anything with a hot glue gun. It's funny that I didn't take a photo of "the gun" considering that it's the title of this post. Maybe I should've titled it "ribbon..." because that is mostly what you'll see...

Oh, except for this crazy guy. Hubby, is what I like to refer to him as. Of course, when I asked him to "hey, can you hold this up for me please?" He took full advantage of having some fun, which is his norm. And, he often asks me why I'm not laughing at him??

So, this WAS one of those toile draperies that you often see over the head of little girls beds. I probably should've taken a full before photo, but when it's time for me to start a project, I just get started - sort of work now, take names (pics) later type of reaction. I guess maybe I'm like that because I often worry if something I see in my head will actually turn out the way it's "supposed to." You know the deal.
Anyway, my daughter loved this after I found it for her at a yard sale for $5. Heck, I loved it and wished I was four again so I could have one over my bed. It had long white toil ethat reached all the way to the floor after it was hung from the ceiling, and it had four or five bows on the top with loooong matching ribbon that also draped to the floor.
Unfortunately, being the nurse that I am became very worried of the potential strangling hazard this pretty decoration actually was after we hung it over her bed. After the first or second night she had it, I went to tuck her in and found that she had tied knots all the way up one of the ribbons, and was holding onto the toile like a blankie... needless to say, it was taken down immediately, but I knew that I had to find a way for her to still HAVE IT!!

So... RIBBONS IT IS!!

Lots of them! And aren't they pretty?
Here's the gist of what I ended up doing. Very simple fix if I do say so myself. All it took was a trip to Hobby Lobby for the ribbon, which was 50% off, thank goodness because you'd be surprised how quickly the price of ribbon adds up!!! Oh, and a hot glue gun, of course.
AND VIOLA!
Que the hot model please...
p.s. - I do laugh, just to myself...
