Because...

Because there is a little 3 year old boy asleep, drifting away into dreamland, upstairs in his room.

Because after the sun comes up he will be another year older, another year "bigger," another year taller... another year of everything gone bye in the blink of an eye.

Because, after all, he's been asking and asking, over and over again to have that particular cake for his Birthday... there really is no way you'd ever want to let him down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so, in the quiet hours of the night you stand tall (in the kitchen - amongst your vast domain of tools and trinkets) as the "The World's Best Mommy!" and ignore that the clock above the stove reads past midnight. And you wrack your brain trying to figure out... how and the heck do I?
And then you think... "If this doesn't work, then maybe I can... Is it gonna work?... What if it doesn't turn out? Whatever you do, DON'T LOOK AT THE CLOCK!"
Because, really you know in your heart that IT'S ALL WORTH IT...
And see!!
Things begin to come together, as most times they do... (MOST TIMES.)
And the right tools fall into place when the creativity is flowing at it's all time peak.
And reinforcements show up to partake in the trenches! - (Yay... Josh comparing cake piping to welding. Hey, it works and he made awesome straight lines. Good job babe!)
And you know you DID GOOD when after hours of cooking and preparing, visiting, thanking friends for coming, cleaning the after party remains, getting the kids to bed, and plopping on the couch in exhaustion...
...You find a picture like this on the camera!
Double ditto from Granny Annie! Thanks for inviting us to the party! (Even if we did come in late!) Every second of time was worth it. Love you guys and what an awesome lesson learned for Forest and Anna and Caleb. They learn everyday that Mom and Dad love them! Awesome Job!
